Research

The microbiome and genomics lab focuses on four main areas of research:

Microbe-mediated Regulation of Plant Growth and Stress Physiology (https://doi.org/10.1007/s00344-025-11922-1)

Most of these areas are interconnected, and we explore the dynamics of plant Genotype-Environment-Microbe-Interactome (GEMI). Some of the key ongoing projects:

  1. Plant and microbial interactions to sequester CO2 during abiotic stress conditions

  2. Plant’s nutrient uptake and soil biogeochemical cycling

  3. Plant and beneficial microbes gene editing for improved stress tolerance

  4. Microbiome diversity and function in the plant’s rhizosphere
